Domain NFTs

Creating domains on the real world web enables you to craft AR experiences tied to physical locations, and minting them as NFTs will allow you to start earning rewards when people or robots visit your domain.

Please join our Discord to ask questions or just chat about domains!

What are real world web domains?

Just as we visit www domains to understand and interact with the digital world, robots, physical AI, smart glasses, and other devices like your phone will visit real world web domains to understand and interact with the physical world. They're essentially 3D maps of physical spaces, and are accessible by any device or application that connects to the Auki network.

What can you do with your domain?

There are a wide range of things you can do based on your interests and skillsets, like creating unique AR experiences, setting up navigation for visitors, or even building your own app. In many cases you can use our existing apps to provide value to your local businesses and earn real world revenue from them.

McKenna - AR displays

McKenna turns physical spaces into augmented reality canvases, where you and others can see the same immersive overlay on the world.

If your local restaurant would like to have an AR menu at each table, or a fun digital experience for diners, you can create that for them with McKenna.

Gotu - AR navigation

Gotu provides real-time guidance to any location in your domain. Turn on your phone's VoiceOver feature, and it adds audio cues for the low vision community.

Ideal venues that would benefit from AR navigation are big events, malls, museums, Airbnbs and other rental properties, or anywhere else people need directions.

Floorcraft - shared AR game

Looking for something a little more fun and entertaining, especially for kids? They'll enjoy battling it out in our multiplayer AR game Floorcraft.

Develop your own app

There's a whole blue ocean of use cases for domains, from AI copilots to robotics to games and more. If you have an idea you want to build out, apply for a grant.

What's the deal with domain NFTs and rewards?

It doesn't cost anything to create a domain and use it with apps like McKenna, but to get rewarded for your domain's daily active users, you'll need to mint it as an NFT. Minting burns 3,000 $AUKI tokens, and domain ownership comes onchain.

Then you'll stake an additional 3,000 tokens for your domain NFT which makes it eligible to earn rewards when others visit your domain.

How much are the rewards?

Rewards for domain NFTs will be distributed weekly on Tuesdays.

>0 avg weekly DAU: 50 $AUKI/week
5 avg weekly DAU: 350 $AUKI/week
10 avg weekly DAU: 1,000 $AUKI/week
>10 avg weekly DAU: Get in touch on Discord!

For our community of early adopters who mint and stake for their domains now, we'll airdrop you an additional 3,000 $AUKI to reimburse the burned amount, making your domain NFT essentially free (limited to 2 domain NFTs per wallet and per Auki console account/organization).

Additionally, please post cool content about your domain on social media! Then drop the link in the #community-posts channel on Discord for the chance to win a 5,000 $AUKI bounty.

Step 1: Create your domain

Everything begins with the Domain Management Tool (DMT) app, available on iOS 16+ or Android 13+. Please see the guide below on how to set up a domain.

Step 2: Mint the NFT

Minting a domain NFT begins in the Auki console, where you'll log in with the same credentials you used in DMT.

1. Navigate to Domains in the Auki console.

2. Click Connect Wallet and follow the steps to connect your wallet.

3. Click +Bind Wallet to associate the wallet and the domain NFTs in it with your Auki console account. You'll need to sign a message to complete the binding. You can bind multiple wallets to your console account.

4. Click Mint on the domains page. You can find the mint button by scrolling to the right on the domains page after binding your wallet. Minting a domain NFT will burn some tokens. Currently it's 3,000 $AUKI tokens for burning and another 3,000 for staking, but those numbers are subject to change.

5. First approve $AUKI for burning and then click mint NFT to trigger the contract interaction. You'll see the domain NFT in your wallet as soon as the transaction goes through, but it'll take a few more minutes for it to show up in the console.

6. If it hasn’t appeared in the console, wait a few minutes and then refresh. Now on the domains page, you can scroll over and confirm which wallet owns the NFT.

7. We'll send your reimbursement of 3,000 $AUKI within a week; no need for any action on your part.

Step 3: Stake tokens

Remember you'll have to stake tokens as well to earn rewards, and this also requires a couple of transactions.

1. Navigate to Domains in the Auki console.

2. Click Staking and approve the $AUKI for staking.

3. Open the staking modal again, you should see your staking status updated to staked in the console. If not, you may need to refresh the console.

Now you'll start earning weekly rewards based on your average daily active user count for that week, which you can track on the domain page in the console. You can also come back to the staking page to claim your rewards. Active users are counted based on unique devices that visit your domain.

Now your domain is ready for AR, robots, smart glasses, AI copilots, and more.

Daily active users can be people viewing your McKenna AR experience, using Gotu navigation, or playing Floorcraft.

The ecosystem is growing and domains will soon have many, many more use cases. Whether it’s robots or smart glasses connecting to your domain to find their position, or a collaborative AR experience in a real world web app, this is only the beginning.

So, what will you do with your domain?
